Long bio Full story

Ginger Phoenix is a Chinese immigrant stand-up comedian, storyteller, and independent comedy producer based in South Carolina.

Ginger moved from China to the United States in September 2015 and built a life in the American South — a region she is still, lovingly, trying to understand. Long before comedy, she was already a small-business owner: she runs a yoga studio, teaches yoga, and trains yoga teachers. She also teaches meditation, studies theatre, and works as a visual wire artist.

In July 2025, Ginger took her first turn at a stand-up microphone. Five months later, she won the People’s Choice award at the Spartanburg Stand-Up Competition Grand Finale. By September 2026, she was headlining and producing her own independent shows in multiple cities under the Ginger Phoenix Comedy banner.

Her comedy draws on culture shock, Southern life, dating, relationships, accents and language, stereotypes, loneliness, identity, and the small daily misunderstandings between cultures — and between people. Her stage persona is built on contrast: polished, feminine, and disarming on the outside; candid, unexpected, and self-aware on the inside.

Ginger Phoenix Comedy produces live shows across the Southeast, booking local and touring comedians and building rooms where good people come to laugh.
